Major (M)
Minor (min or m)
Diminished (dim)
Augmented (aug)

(You would only need to know this if you were in an academic setting or you need to communicate with other musicians. For the person just playing for their own enjoyment, it's probably enough just to know the intervals by their numbers, not by major or perfect, etc.)
Knowing intervals will help you a great deal in both sight-reading and ear-developing, but a knowledge of intervals is necessary for building chords. Next issue we will take a look at that, so master this issue by drilling yourself on these intervals repeatedly.
