Can You Name These Chords?

Some are inverted in 1st or 2nd inversion, while some are in root position. Most are major, some are minor, one is diminished, and one is augmented. See if you can identify them all using the parameters mentioned earlier:

If you can't see the score, click here to get the Finale Viewer Plug-In. Produced using Finale.

Did you get them? Here are the answers:

1st line: Gm (root), Gm (1st inversion), Gm (2nd inversion), Daug (root), Eb (2nd)

2nd line: C (root), D (2nd), B (root), F (2nd), G (2nd), C (1st)

3rd line: Eb (root), Ab (1st), Em (2nd), Bm (root), Bb (root), Cm (root)

4th line: B dim (root), Dm (2nd), Db (2nd), Bb (root)

Once you can identify them quickly, you are ready to progress to extended chords.

We will take those up next issue.

Thanks, and that's all for now. Be sure to review these often and get them down cold.

And if you STILL haven't taken advantage of our 1/2 price offer on "Grow Big Ears", be sure and do so. Having a good ear is SO important to a musician!
